Born and brought up in Wales I moved to Manchester to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, forced to create contemporary bullshit in my studio time. If you haven't yet looked at my work, it's far from contemporary, and that's how I like it (but I still plan to get my moneys worth from my course ;) )
My inspiration comes from a life-long obsession with old ships, knights, demons, castles and Celtic myths told to me as a child by my Welsh grandmother. Stories of dragons, giants, kings and betrayal, and seductive temptresses that could bring counties to their knees, haha. Films like Lord Of The Rings provide a good visual inspiration and template of the structure of mythological creatures but I will never directly use anyone else's ideas.
I mainly use acrylic paint because I work at home and its less messy but I do frequently use oil paints and have been for many years.
I enjoy creating my stylised, traditional works and will continue to hopefully for many years to come.
